FORMING OF THE HISTORICAL AND EDUCATIONAL COMPETENCIES
IN THE SCIENTIFIC-EDUCATIONAL SPACE “KOZATSKA
SVІTLYTSYA”

Many well-known researchers of the Cossacks consider it a kind of special and
extremely interesting social estate, which arose as a kind of challenge of that time and
even epoch. This is “a world of people who created their own original administrative
and judicial systems, a bright and colorful
culture with their chapels, theaters,
academic debates, schools and academies; people who lived on the borderlines of the
Christian and Muslim worlds, used to fight back, able to defend themselves. They
borrowed a lot from the East, with whom they had continuous contact, even more –
from Europe with its universities and Baroque. And this unusual symbiosis created a
society in which they believed in God, freedom and success” [6].
It should be noted that the entire tangible and
intangible heritage of the
Cossacks as a historical phenomenon, to a large extent, by us, people of the 21st
century, has not been fully understood and mastered. Its historical significance is not
properly used as an element in the upbringing activity and worldview of a modern
person, who often wanders in search of “his own tribe”, but it’s nearby, in the history
of your ancestors, in their epics, poems, dances and songs, in the mentality of each
individual and the mentality of the whole nation.
The degree of awareness of our population about the Cossacks, as well as all
components of its material and cultural heritage, was
studied
and
analyzed
by us [1;
2]. The results showed that the knowledge of our fellow citizens is very moderate and
is mainly at the level of “red harem pants”, their famous hairstyle, popular broadcasts
and some brand names. It should be noted that in general almost everyone knows
about the existence of such a phenomenon as the Cossacks.
Almost no deeper
knowledge about the peculiarities of the history of this phenomenon, which has
practically determined the basis of the ethno-cultural roots of the people living in the
main territory of modern Ukraine, has been identified. Only some individuals, who
are especially interested in this topic, have good knowledge of the topic. At the same
time, with such a more than moderate knowledge of our own history, we somewhat
unexpectedly discovered an extremely great interest in Cossack topics in all its
aspects, and also among respondents of various age groups [1; 2; 3].
We explain this paradox between the desire for knowledge and real awareness
of the Cossacks by the very moderate quality of delivering
information about the
discussed historical phenomenon to each compatriot. The uniquely great interest in
this topic, of course, is determined by the ethno-genetic memory of the people [1; 3],
“the call of the ancestors”, the extraordinary beauty of our lands, which, on the
subconscious, determines the need for harmony and inner balance [1; 4]. All this is
necessary for a modern person not
only for all-round development, socialization, self-
identification in a certain ethnic culture, but also simply for survival in the modern
world in harmony with oneself, society and our nature.

An analysis of the results of a comprehensive large-scale study of the state of
popularization of the Cossack heritage showed that painstaking work is needed to
build
historical
and
educational competencies
[5] on Cossack topics, which include
training, educational and managing this process.
To solve this problem, the scientific and educational space “Kozatska
Svitlytsa” was organized [1; 2; 3], where anyone who wants to,
in a circle of like-
minded people, in conditions comfortable for him, can participate in thematic
meetings on Cossack themes, exchange opinions, comfortably “dissolve” and relax in
favorable ethno-cultural environment.
Such an approach allows the
historical
competence [5] of admirers of the
Cossack heritage to be formed sequentially, with due depth, understanding of various
historical
processes, their causes and consequences according to the opinions of
leading world experts who have studied and studying this historical phenomenon. In
such an environment, the issues of educational competence of a person in general and
on Cossack topics in particular are harmoniously addressed. In the same conditions,
the formation of civic, communicative, ethno-cultural
and social competencies is
favorably realized [5].
This form of popularization of the Cossack heritage can be recommended to all
interested in this topic. It allows people to better realize themselves and consciously
form a future person in themselves.
Proper names, all projects and content work of the Kiev Academy of Cossacks
are protected by the Law of Ukraine as intellectual property [1].
