If at all, any mistakes get noticed after the submission of documents, amendments to the bill of 
entry being carried out with the approval of deputy/assistant commissioner. 
 
Bill of Sight
A bill of sight document is normally used whenever an importer does not have all the required 
documents and/or information that is necessary for a bill of entry,
In practice, all information on the bill of sight needs to be reproduced on a letter. This helps the 
importer to get the goods cleared from custom authorities after arrival, in case the importer does not 
have the bill of entry. 
 
Letter of Credit 
A letter of credit is opened at the request of the buyer through his bank and transmitted to the seller's 
bank, giving an assurance of the payment. 
An exporter gets the letter of credit from the importer's 
bank & forwarded through his banker stating that the importer would pay the exporter as per the 
commercial documentation & trade terms agreed upon. The exporter dispatches the order once S/he 
has received this letter of credit.

Import License 
De pending on the type of import, there is a requirement to show an import license. To get the license, 
there is a need to fill an application to the licensing authority. Once done, the import license can be 
obtained from the chief controller of exports and imports. A Red Book gives information on the type 
of goods that require an import license and the goods that can be imported without it.

Warehouse Receipt
Once the goods arrive at the dockyard, they are kept at the warehouse. If the import customs 
clearance is completed and payment of all import dues and freight are done, warehouse receipt can 
be obtained. This receipt implies that the goods which are kept separately can be taken. In a situation, 
when the customs duties are unpaid, or the imports customs clearance procedure is not completed, 
the goods are kept safely in the warehouse, and a 'dock warrant' will be given.
