Activity 2 Show the time.
Objectives: to develop listening skills;
to consolidate the time and the structure “It’s time to …”

Ask the pupils to make a circle. Explain that they will play a game “Clock salad”. Ask them what “salad” is in the mother tongue and say it is very simple to make it. Just mix all


the ingredients up.
Ask the pupils to take their chairs and sit down so that to make a circle. Explain that after your command: e.g. ‘It’s six/seven/eleven thirty”, the pupils who have pictures with
clocks and sentences ‘It’s six thirty”, “It’s seven thirty”, “It’s eleven thirty” must stand up and quickly change their seats. Say that when you say e.g. ‘It’s 7 o’clock”. (or 8.00, 11.00),
all pupils with 7.00, 8.00, 11.00 cards (both pictures and sentences) must stand up and quickly change their seats. Say that when you say ‘It’s time to play!’, all pupils must
stand up and quickly change their seats
Pupils from each group give to each other questions with time. For example, one pupil
from first group show the time, one pupil from the second group should say the time.
6:00 – it’s six o’clock, 6:30 – it’s six thirty,
7:00 – it’s seven o’clock, 7:20 – it’s seven twenty,
7:40 – it’s seven forty, 12:30 – it’s twelve thirty,
04:00 – it’s four o’clock, 08:00 – it’s eight o’clock,
21:00 – it’s twenty one o’clock.

Two pupils from each team come to the board and must do the crossword
