The aim of this project to:
a) To investigate the historical places of Uzbek and English toponyms which important events took place;
b) To provide and systematize different principles of place names classification, taking into account their complicated (multidimensional) nature;
c) To research differences and similarities of quantative toponyms and qualitative toponyms.
d) to focus distinctive features, variability and resemblance of Uzbek and English place names.
The primary research methodology includes the methods of descriptive analysis, which consists in collecting and systematizing the collected facts, in their logical comprehension and identification of specific patterns. Taxonomic method as a variant of the descriptive method is used for the categorization of toponymic units into certain logical classes and subclasses. In some cases, the method of quantitative analysis was used. It revealed quantitative relationships between different categories of place names; it also discovers the main mechanism of the development of toponymic systems of different territorial variants of the English language.
The importance of project to become more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with the history and culture of Uzbek and English by knowing the names of historical places.
The principle of toponyms and toponymic system is the object of the dissertation paper.
While we are learning toponymic system through the comparing Uzbek and English toponyms, we pay attention to their etymological pecularities. For example, the emergence of many Uzbek toponyms depend on natural geographical conditions (relief), ethnic composition of the population, occupations and occupations of people, excavations. riches, historical figures and events. However language changes are the main sources of English toponyms. Place-names may also be compounds composed of elements derived from two or more languages from different periods.
The theoretical significance of the dissertation paper devoted to a few scholars books and researchs on toponyms. Futhermore the correlation between Uzbek and English scientists' distinction and resemblance of place names.
The practical significance of the dissertation paper relied on materials and examples of Uzbek and English places names etymology, cultural specifity and geographical location. By expressing interesting place names which have not explored yet we came across their origin and history of landscape.
The structure of the dissertation paper consists of an introduction, three chapters, and conclusions for these chapters, final conclusion and bibliography.
The introductory part not only gives a brief overview of the topic, but also includes the views of scholars on the subject. Besides that actuality of the topic, subject and objects are revealed in this part.
The first chapter considers main theoratical terms of the theme, historical investigation of the subject. Additionally, there are different opinions and data of scientists living in different periods on this field
The next chapter deals with the role of this topic in practice, the basic principles and their system. Also, more attention is paid to Uzbek toponyms, its factors of emergence.
I am currently conducting research on Chapter 3. In this chapter I would like to explain the etymological features of place names in America and the UK. In this regard, I am studying the works of English scholars as well as Caroline Taggart.
In the summary section, all the collected research and results are summarized and analyzed.
The bibliography includesa list of all literature used on toponyms is listed in alphabetical order. There are also some used sites on the internet
