institutions have the necessary accreditation. At the same time, there are also non-accredited programs,
so it is important to find out what kind of accreditation a particular program you are interested in has.
2. Providers of corporate training and /or professional development courses. These organizations
provide training, certification programs, and other curriculums designed to develop any professional
skills. These are, as a rule, syllabuses formed according to the individual requirements of clients.
Thus, this type of educational institution offers programs that are very different in quality.
3. Traditional universities offering online education. Many traditional universities and colleges
have recently begun
to offer their programs online, so expanding the range of study programs offered.
Unfortunately, very few traditional universities and colleges offer complete and holistic online op-
tions for their programs.
Online education is the interaction of a teacher and students with each other at a distance, reflect
-
ing all the components inherent in the educational process (goals, content, methods, organizational
forms, teaching aids) and implemented by specific means of Internet technologies or other means
providing interactivity. For this reason, it should be noted that online learning has the following major
advantages:
flexibility - students generally do not attend regular classes in the form of lectures or seminars.
Everyone can study as much as he or she needs to master the course, discipline, and obtain the neces-
sary knowledge for the chosen specialties;
modularity - the basis of distance education programs is a modular principle.
Each discipline
or a series of disciplines that are mastered by a student creates a holistic view of a specific subject
area. This allows you to form a curriculum from a set of independent training courses that meets in-
dividual or group needs;
parallelism - training can be carried out by combining the main professional activity with
study, i.e. “on-the-job”;
coverage - “mass character” - the number of students is not a critical parameter. They have
access to many sources of educational information (electronic libraries, databases), and can also com-
municate with each other and with the teacher through communication networks or using other means
of information technology;
asynchrony
- in the learning process, the teacher and the learner can implement the technol-
ogy of learning independently in time, i.e. according to a convenient schedule for everyone and at a
convenient place.
In addition to the above advantages, online learning also has a couple of disadvantages:
•
Large upfront costs of developing and building the system.
•
There is no full-fledged human contact and emotional connection with the coach.
•
The need to overcome ignorance, stereotypes, and skepticism of many potential customers
who
have an inadequate, outdated idea of the real possibilities of online learning.
•
Restrictions on the use of business games. The habit of many people is learning to manage
not so much by working hard as by being motivated, inspired, and having fun. Many face-to-face
business courses provide such an opportunity. Online courses are less fun and require more work.
Online education has many distinct advantages. However, it also has its demerits as well as the
traditional way of teaching. Most
importantly, due to online education, course students can learn ef-
fectively and conveniently.
