Abbas A M, 1997, Quality Management, (Continuing), The proposed study is aimed at investigating the present status of the Australian construction industry in regard to quality management to identify the current limitations and constraints which may impede the process of developing the best practices in the industry.

Chan P O, & La Brooy R, 1997, Design for Assembly, (Continuing), The thesis integrates existing work on the subject of DFA whilstanalysing and automating existing works for use in the field. The project uses wire-frame modeling to elecit parameters required asinputs to Boothroyd's work. It also develops a front end interface forthe engine of Jiang and La Brooy. The work extends to become CAD independent by using IGES as a universal interface toexisting engines.

Cheetham W, & La Brooy R, 1997, The Optimisation to Two-dimensional Shapes on Laminae, (Continuing), The project dealt with the compaction of two-dimensional shapes onto two-dimensional planes. Optimisation is measured by the minimisation of wastage. The methods of Simulated Annealing and GeneticAlgorithms have been used to convergethe algorithms. Irregular plates and irregular parts have been used. The algorithms can nest around blemishes in the laminae. The project has been funded by the CRC for IMST and is intended for use in the steel industry.
