Abanteriba S, Cross M, & Lachlan L, 1997, Investigation into the heat transfer problems associated with piston engines for high altitude autonomous aircraft., (New), A high altitude flight vehicle is being developed for meteorological data gathering, by the department of Aerospace Engineering. The vehicle will operate at altitudes up to about 50,000 ft. At these altitudes the heat transfer becomes a critical factor affecting both the powerplant and the size of the flight vehicle. This project aims to develop a validated model forthe engine heat transfer characteristics under the operating conditions.
