The more…the more…qanchalik…shunchalik…
The more you learn, the more you earn [qanchalik ko’p urgansang, shunchalik ko’p pul topasan].
The more obstacles we face, the stronger we can become [qanchalik ko’p to’siqlarga uchrasak, shunchalik kuchli odam bo’lolamiz].
The harder you work, the better your results will be [qanchalik qattiq ishlasang, shunchalik yaxshi natojalarga erishasan].
The longer people live abroad, the better they will assimilate into the environment [odamlar qanchalik uzoq vaqt xorijda yashasa, shunchalik yaxshi muhitga moslashadi].
In most parts of the world, people are living longer.
Is this a positive or negative development?
|
General reason: medical developments and rising life standards.
General topic: living longer.
Controlling issue: is living alone good or bad?
Position: despite some drawbacks, positive development.
Disadvantages:
Governments spending great funds into pensions, healthcare and nursing homes-putting a financial burden on them.
Growing populations-housing problems-increasing prices of houses-pressurizing young people to earn more.
More significant advantages:
The elderly are good at jobs relying on intelligence/experience-being eligible for pensions and care.
The elderly teach the youth about social/cultural norms with their experience-contributing to their society.
With the advancement of medical care and rising life standards, the average life expectancy has increased in many countries, especially in developed ones. Although this might create some economic and social problems, I view it as a desirable development in general.
Firstly, this trend has distinct disadvantages. When people live longer, governments are required to allocate significant public budgets to the retirement fund, as well as healthcare and various services like nursing accommodations. This, in turn, can impose a financial burden on the governing bodies and lead them to a lack of funding opportunities. The increased expectancy of life also may exacerbate the issue of ever-growing populations. This means that housing problems are likely to get much worse, which can raise the price of properties, thereby pressuring young people to make more money. The more people are expected to live, the more repercussions governments and the whole society might suffer.
Nevertheless, the beneficial effects are more significant. Even though older people are not physically able to perform challenging tasks, they can work in jobs that rely on intelligence and experience like teachership or psychology. As a result, they are highly likely to be eligible to the pensions and care they receive. On the societal level, once people become older, they tend to spend more time at home taking care of their grandchildren, yielding profound life insights, and teaching the youth about traditional and cultural values. This transition of invaluable experience can play a central role in shaping the future of society. Therefore, both the government and the community can gain from this development, irrespective of several initial challenges.
In summary, the increase in people’s life expectancy has pros and cons alike. Even though it may not appeal to governments and youngsters initially, its positive outcomes can add up to a positive development, I think.
