Some people think planning future is a waste of time and people should focus on the present. To 
what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is sometimes argued whether individuals should plan for their future or just seize the present.
I 
believe people have to make the most of opportunities which both offer and enjoy each and every 
moment of their life. 
On the one hand, it is imperative to live in present due to following reasons. First and foremost, 
present is inevitable and one should make efforts to make it better since current period of time 
command more of our primary attention and focused efforts due to its immediacy so taking action 
and conduction of plans becomes must for any achievement. Moreover, if folks utilize the 
contemporary period of time, it will definitely work for the betterment of society as a whole 
because if present generation is considered, moral lessons and virtuous deeds taught to children 
today will make them valuable citizens in future. Last but not least, sometimes challenges which 
someone has to face are massive and frightening so at that time focusing on them in present is 
imperative as it expands the understanding of the scope of the situation and concentrating on 
these issues can prevent people from feeling panic about the unpredictable future. 
On the contrary, thinking about future is essential too. Firstly, future always hold a lot of promise 
and potential and people who are having future plans could be more motivated because they 
always hope these strategies will come to fruition in long-term for which they sometimes even set 
short term goals and try to accomplish them to become successful in life, eventually thinking about 
future in a careful, structured and collaborative way make them stronger human beings. Secondly,
by making plans, people can organize and improve their time management skills by virtue of which 
they can finish any work on time. For instance, in order to finish a dissertation on time, a student 
should schedule his time into different sessions for material gathering, proposal writing and 
dissertation writing in order to be able to complete the whole task in stipulated time frame so 
planning becomes critical. Finally, future thinking allows people to see the path they need to take 
to get to a better world or the path they have to avoid in order to forestall a worsening situation 
like people sometimes must make few plans in advance for those undesirable incidents, such as 
signing a health insurance contract which may definitely be effectual for an individual in longer run. 
In conclusion, I would like to say that people should plan for future and live in present as even 
though their actions should be future oriented, they should relish each and every moment of their 
present life and make them memorable.
