Fewer and fewer people today write by hand using pen, pencil or brush. What are the 
reasons? Is this a positive or negative development? 
It is undeniable that in this technological era, people show more interest in digital way of 
writing and painting rather than using conventional writing tools. There are certain factors 
responsible for this gradual change in the way of inditing and in my perspective, it is 
proving to be detrimental and people are loosing their writing skills. 
There are number of factors which encourage people to change their ways of writing. First 
and foremost reason is that computerization is enhancing day by day and every office, 
school or college prefers audio visual methods with the use of electronic gadgets like 
projectors instead of black board. Secondly, in this highly competitive era business matters 
require speed, accuracy and these ultra modern techniques are more time efficient and 
professionals can even change the fonts and styles with the help of editing anytime and 
anywhere. Finally, these means are eco friendly too and require little use of paper which 
also proves to be vital for the environment as there is no wastage of paper. 
According to me, it is entirely a negative development for writing skills.
First reason for this 
is that handwriting is unique to every individual and while writing people tend to inscribe 
the way in which they are different from others like the way a person marks his signature 
or write any kind of document and people will loose expression of their uniqueness which 
may also prove to be detrimental for the art of writing.
In addition, traditional writing tools 
help a writer to concentrate better and enhances the cognitive development of an 
individual which further helps any author to improve reading fluency.
Last but not least, 
some marvelous arts such as painting, novel writing, miniature and calligraphy are getting 
extinct due to prevalence of digital gadgets. 
In conclusion, aforementioned factors promote the usage of electronic way of writing 
which is not a positive sign for the survival of old methods.
