a positive or negative development? 
It is undeniable that individuals have been fond of fashionable clothes and accessories over 
the last few years. While, this adoption of latest trends brings some adverse effects on 
society as well as for individuals, I also believe that it also helps people to keep abreast of 
the latest things. 
On the one hand, there are certain negative sides of this current trend. Firstly, it is a threat 
to our cultural identity. For instance, people of any nation tend to get influenced by the 
mediated globalization and consequently are changing their dressing decisions by exploring 
fashion through magazines, television and cinemas and by doing so they are losing their own 
traditional recognition and in this way the cultural diversity is disappearing. Secondly, 
individuals are impelled to spend much of their budget to look attractive as the fashion 
accessories price is generally exorbitant and 
they usually borrow money from their friends 
and some time from the banks 
which end up in heavy debts. Moreover
, it is a normal trend 
that to change their personal appearance and looks people nowadays, go for a laser or 
plastic surgery. This kind of surgery may cause damage to their body parts if surgery is not 
done properly or may result in diseases in the long-term.
On the other hand, there are some positive effects that I need to consider. First and 
foremost , being fashionable do help in raising the standard of a person in society and help 
the individual to achieve uniqueness and confidence by virtue of which he/she can be able to 
present himself in front of the society. Furthermore, it always prove as a vital source to bring 
any change across the communities as whenever celebrities adopt any new thing, it soon 
becomes a popular trend. Last but not least, fashion serves as a profession for lot of people 
who depend upon this humongous industry for their daily needs and it is also considered as 
an art by which one can invent new styles, dressings and jewelry. 
In conclusion, I believe that latest trends uplift the image of an individual,
however, one cannot ignore the negative aspects of it completely.
