PMS REPORT DEVELOPMENT, DISTRIBUTION, AND ANALYSIS
The hotel’s PMS is the major storage and retrieval site of critical information for the
front office. Therefore, current and relevant PMS reports enable the best managerial
decision making. A modern PMS allows FOMs to select from, literally, hundreds of
possible reports. As indicated in Roadmap 2, this section of the chapter focuses on
the development, distribution, and analysis of PMS reports.
FRONT OFFICE SEMANTICS
PMS report:
Specific set of data or information taken from a hotel’s property management system.
The FOM, working in concert with the hotel’s general manager and others, must
determine which PMS reports should be generated and analyzed by front office and
other decision makers. For example, assume that a specific PMS report estimates the
following day’s ADR. This information may be critical to the decision making of the
hotel’s revenue manager, but will be of much less importance to the hotel’s food and
beverage director.
