Topic: How are you feeling? Gr: Seeing the doctor
Level: pre- intermediate
Objectives: develop students’s conversation skills in English
Time: 80 minutes
Materials: text book handouts, board and a computer, pictures, marker
Warm up: Ice-braker speaking activity
Objectives: to prepare students for the lesson, activate their background knowledge in top-own processing
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: text –book, board and the chalk
Mode of interaction: whole class
Activate language connected to health / illness. Ask, e.g. When was the last time you were ill/ injured? What was wrong? /What happened? Didyou go to thedoctor?
Whatmedicine/ treatmentdid youhave? Did you take time offwork? How long? Give Ss 4-5 mins to answer the questions in pairs. They can ask you/each other for words they need or use bilingual dicti onaries. They then report back to the class about their partners

Activity - 1

Objective: to enable Students to take notes and focus on answering
Time: 25 minutes.
Materials: copies of the text from the book as handouts
Mode of interaction: group work and pair work
Procedure: Check the rubric. Ss should take notes and focus on answering the two question s. They should try not to get distracted by unknown language. Ss listen, note down their answers and then compare them in pairs. Play the recording again for them to check/add to their notes. In feedback, check answers and teach/ check new vocabulary, e.g. painful . During this stage, elicit more information about the conversations, e.g. ask: Is thewomanworried or under pressure? Does she have a healthy diet? How many cups oftea and coffee does she drink?
