LESSON PLAN
Topic: Inventions Grammar: Revision
Level: pre- intermediate
Objectives: develop students’s conversation skills in English
Time: 80 minutes
Materials: text book handouts, board and a computer, pictures, marker
Warm up: Ice-braker speaking activity
Objectives: to prepare students for the lesson, activate their background knowledge in top-own processing
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: text –book, board and the chalk
Mode of interaction: whole class
Give Ss 2—3 mins to discuss the questions in groups. Elicit answers, then ask them to look at the photos at the bottom of the page and ask: What is happening! Who are the 5 people! (the first flight/the Wright brothers). If Ss don’t know, provide them the information from the Culture. Give Ss 1 min to read the programme information and discuss their answer in pairs. In feedback, elicit the answer. Discuss it and check any unfamiliar words in the text if necessary. Ask Ss to work in pairs. In feedback, check answers, then model and drill the pronunciation.

Activity - 1


Objective: to imptove Students’ listening comprehention with the help of DVD video
Time: 25 minutes.
Materials: copies of the text from the book as handouts
Mode of interaction: group work and pair work
Procedure: Check the questions, then play the DVD. Ss note down their answers and compare them in pairs. Elicit answers in feedback.


Answers: 1 The Wright brothers’ first flight was in 1903. It was on a sand dune. They flew 1Z0 feet (36 metres). This changed everything (‘triggered a century of innovation‘). They learned to ride the
wind in a simple way. 2 yes Check transform in question 4. Ss then work alone/in pairs and underline the correct alternatives before watching the DVD again. Check Ss’ answers. Ask their opinions about statement 4: Do you agree! Why/Why not.

Play the DVD again, pausing at suitable points. Ask questions about what Ss can see, e.g. What are they doingnow? Where are they! How is flying similar/different now?
