Most people I meet visualise spoken communication as a simple linear
relationship between speaking and listening rather like this:

Somebody sends; somebody else receives. But is it really that simple?
Of course, the answer is no. First, we’re missing an important element. In

affects all our significant outcomes in life, and that it forms a powerful
