Activity 5: True/False. (Read the sentences carefully. Choose true/false for each statement)

True/false activities are notoriously reliable for student assessment and may be used outside of an exam context because they can enhance student engagement. Why I chose this activity? First, these questions test the most basic level of knowledge: familiarity. True/false questions don’t test your ability to recall information or demonstrate understanding, but rather only recognize if a fact is familiar. Second, it is the easiest question format on which to guess correctly. Despite the often-touted probability of true/false questions as pure 50/50 odds. Nevertheless, even if I write a set of well-constructed true/false questions, students only need to know the correct answer to 40% of the questions and guess on the remaining 60% to reach a minimum passing score of 70%.

  • Activity 6: test (Choose the answer (A, B, C) that best fits to the sentence on steps in conceptual analysis of the lexical fields below)

Teachers teach content then test students. This cycle of teaching and testing is familiar to anyone who has been a student. Tests seek to see what students have learned. The obvious point of this test activity is to assess what students have learned after the completion of the course paper theory part. The second purpose of evaluation and testing is to give students the opportunity to show what they have learned rather than catching them out or show what they have not learned. The third purpose of evaluation and testing is also to motivate the students and show them how well they have learned the subject matter.

  • Activity 7: Working with definitions. (Look at the words in bold and try to figure out what they mean. Then write the words from the box next to their definitions)

This activity develops students’ vocabulary base. There are several reasons for using this activity such as students look up the meaning an English word they see, find the English translation of a word in their language, find out other grammatical information about the word and also they find the synonym and antonyms of the word and by the way they also learn new words related to it. According to the activity 7, students will learn several new words on the topic of conceptual analysis of the lexical field denoting ‘spirituality and enlightenment’ in English like conceptual, field, spirituality, analysis, lexicology, enlightenment, theory and others.
