The methodological statement about the use of the exercises
Activity 1: Complete sentence (Complete the text about conceptual analysis below by writing a word from the box in each space)
Writers and orators build sentences in order to communicate an intended idea to their audience. To build a sentence, I combined the different parts of a sentence together in order to create a coherent whole. However, most of the time it is important to write in complete sentences, it is possible to communicate meaning without using complete the text or sentences. First activity is about completing the text about conceptual analysis by writing a word from the box. This activity allows students to practice their writing skills by adding either a subject or predicate to an incomplete sentence. In this activity students learn not only the meaning of the words in table like thematic, rules, explicit, dictionary, system, validity, examination, level, conceptual, dictionaries but also they learn how to place those words into the text, by the way they also try to understand the plot of the text.
Activity 2: Underlining (Underline the most appropriate word in each sentence)
Typically, the only time underlining is used is when someone needs to create emphasis in a handwritten letter or paper like a rough draft. The main reason for choosing this exercise is if one thing for example, an action or an event, underlines another, it draws attention to it and emphasizes its importance. Also, students learn to differentiate the words which are related to sentences meaning.
Activity 3. Complete the table. (Complete the table below by writing 8 steps of conducting conceptual analysis of the lexical fields)
The first thing students have to do is to read the theory part of the course paper carefully especially, a unit about steps of conducting conceptual analysis of the lexical fields. Then, they have to complete the table by writing eight steps each table. I thought it helps students to improve their memory, they read the theory and after then they write the steps with the help of their memory.
Activity 4: Complete the table (Complete the table below with making new words and giving their definitions on the topic of conceptual analysis of the lexical field denoting ‘spirituality and enlightenment’ in English and Uzbek)
The theory part of the course paper is full of new words, phrases, idioms and neologisms. Fourth activity is about suffixes of neologisms and their meaning on the topic of Conceptual analysis of lexical fields. For example, the first suffix is –ment and a new sample for this suffix is enlightenment and also, meaning of this word is the act or means of enlightening. Likewise, students have complete the other parts of the table given in the sample. This activity helps students to make new words and try to translate or find out their meanings in the context.
