Annotation: 
Of the 6500 languages in the world, it is now evident that the English language has 
taken a leadership among other languages with its number of speakers increasing in the past few de-
cades. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the evolution of English and how it has become 
internationally popular. The role of English in dissimilar spheres of the world as well as explanation 
of the reason why it is more effective English to be presiding language in this Globalized era are also 
included. This article also makes comparison between the advantages and disadvantages of English 
as a superior language.
