Annotation: 
On a daily basis while surfing the net, especially social media we encounter some 
words which are somehow unfamiliar to denotative meaning. Sometimes it is so hard to identify them 
that this article deals with the theory of the effect of the Internet on shifting vocabulary of English.

Introduction
Since the invention of the Internet, English has handled to be global language of this phenom-
enon. As the most utilized language around the world, new variety of English has emerged. The 
Internet language has influenced to the word-formation and lexical basis of English. Although it has 
distinctive features with other varieties users also come across some challenges related to analyzing 
properly.
A century ago people used the words such as surfing, googling and chatting with their initial 
meaning. Through the ages the Internet added to new meaning to these words. Moreover, the new 
lexicons like emoji’s, texturing and web-sites become emerged. So being aware of neologisms facil-
itates to working easily in a digital world.
Having rich sources of vocabulary helps understand the information quickly. As a result of this 
people who are using the net may not have problems while chatting. Furthermore, the topic is new-
comer in the process of language evolution. So the form the linguistic point of view it is valid to 
clarify the theme.
The article considers the theoretical aspects of influence of the Internet on studying English and 
gives some and offers practical efficiency of learning acronyms on websites. There are major parts and 
subsections dedicated to the history, causes and effects of the emergence of Internet English and import-
ant examples of abbreviations for using them properly to save time and being flexible as ESL learner.
