According to the ILO, the search for ways to solve the environmental problems 
of humanity on the basis of the transition to a sustainable world with a green 
economy, which is carried out by the modern world community, has affected at least 
half of the world’s workforce-the equivalent of 1.5 billion people

environmental policy that meets the interests of millions of workers. The main role in 
the development of such a policy was assumed by the International Trade Union 
Confederation (ITUC), which represents most of the national trade union centers of 
the world, which has been giving environmental issues one of the primary places at 
all its congresses since 2006.
In the documents of the founding congress of this organization, environmental 
protection was included among its main tasks.
The Charter of the ITUC, adopted at the congress, recognizes the importance of 
solving environmental problems for trade unions
