Participants were divided into two groups, which 
studied separately for two weeks. Each 5-day Executive 
Education Online Course was aimed at offi
cials and 
professionals from the private, associative and aca-
demic sectors that have a long and wide experience 
in their sub-sector. This training course provided 
participants with fundamental knowledge and skills 
that made them able to analyze training needs of the 
trainees, design an appropriate training course struc-
ture, develop course content, deliver the training and 
evaluate the results.
The course was co-delivered online by two fa-
cilitators Dr. Paul Penfold and Dr. Catherin Khoo 
(Fig.1) using a blend of live online teaching, pair and 
group work in break out rooms, discussion forums 
and supported self-study.

The theoretical-practical methodology, which 
analyses experiences applicable to the participants, is 
modular. Each of these modules comprises presenta-
tions, discussions, group work with case studies and 
practical activities.
The presentations, though mainly theoretical, are 
brief, conceptual, tool sharing and as interactive as 
possible, combined with discussions and debates. The 
practical activity aims at putting in a real situation.
Taking into account the course objectives, as well 
as the UNWTO Executive Education methodology, 
the course included the content, which was reinforced 
with participants (Fig.2).
The presentations were mainly theoretical, brief 
and conceptual, combined with discussions and de-
bates. Many practical activities aimed at putting in 
real situations in the content and tools seen during 
the course, and due consideration was given to a post
