CHAPTER I. EDUCATION IN THE PAST AND NOW.
1.1. Importance of education in the world.
Education is the process of learning or the acquisition of knowledge,
skills, values, beliefs and habits. Education system was becoming stronger from
ancient civilization period itself. During civilization period people need to study
writing and reading to transmit knowledge from person to person and from
generation to generation. From that time itself education is becoming an
important part of every one’s life and still it continues and will remain forever.
Education is the basic thing in every one’s life. Everyone must acquire basic
education to live in this society. Education is the sub system which performs
some functions for the whole society. Changes are usual in every generation.
And as we move from one generation to next generation we can face some
changes in the education system. Now let us discuss about the changes. Past
Education System Education was strong in ancient days also. In ancient day’s
education system changed based on the periods such as Vedic, Brahmanical,
Muslim, British periods. In Vedic periods schools were becoming boarding and
students were handed over to teacher. Physical education was compulsory at that
period. Training was given in the war. Apart that training given for arts and craft
works. In brahmanical periods. Students were to study Vedic literatures. Main
aim of it is to learn Vedas but it was restricted to low class peoples. It is the
main fault of education system of that period.
1
The objectives of education system totally changed during the Muslim
period. Imported school education system for all castes. Vocational education
emerged at that period and it teaches some craft for students. The invasion of
British makes some advantages in the education field. Their contribution
towards the education system was still reminding one. British education gives

more importance to school on going. Established several schools and provided
several facilities in education system. Make some changes in the education
syllabus. Education system gives equal importance to both teachers and
students. Present education have great different from the past. It does not
playing a significant role to develop the future of the youth. The main aim of
modern education system is to make money. Education institution owners utilize
the education for their financial growth. Don’t try to understand its importance.
This education gives degree and diploma for students without any
knowledge. Because of this business minded education students are not qualified
for the proper job. Education is not only for good degree but also to study some
moral things in life. New generation students have no idea about the cultural
values and the importance of society. Because in this present education system
teachers are not ready to teach it. Today’s education system does not trained
students that what they want in their practical life. That is why today most of
them are disqualified during the interview process. Now a days education give
more importance to technology. Online education system has both advantages
and disadvantages. Future Education System Within these nearby days a rapid
change is occurring in the education system. The future of education system is
uncertain still one can predict it.
No doubts about the future education system. New changes is still taken in
the education filed to make some changes. Government authorities are also
responsible for it and they ready to take proper action to make some useful
changes in the education system. Future education system will give more
importance to technical and professional education than moral education. Give
more importance to countries development. Give more training for students, to
build up professional qualities. Educated people are the main asset of a nation.
For the development of personal and social life, education plays a great role. It
plays a vital role in shaping tomorrow’s leaders. Education is the root a person
and it can make every impossible thing possible in life.

From the last perspective, the schools were approved in Venic, where a
child was handed over to the teacher at the age of about eight years, and the
knowledge was conveyed an ideal behavior and not for its useful purpose. It was
the feeling that knowledge was something, the meaning, glory and funnier life.
The teacher was personally interested in the life of his students. Education was
completed. For example, physical education was mandatory. Students were
taught to build a strong and healthy body. The training was given in the art of
war, including archery, driving, driving and in other allied areas.
School training began with phonology, including the study of grammar.
After that, the study of logic was recorded, which dealt with the laws of thought
and the art of thought. Then came the science of crafts. Finally, the discipline of
life came, which dealt with purity and sexual chastity in thoughts and actions,
including simplicity in terms of food and clothing, emphasis on equality,
fraternity and independence and respect for the teacher. Language, logic, crafts,
discipline and structure of character formed the basic concepts of education in
early India. During the Brahman period, Vedic literature formed the main
lessons of the subject. The main objective of education was to learn the Vedas.
But the Sudras were excluded from the right to education. Education was based
on the caste instead of capacity and suitability. Women were also excused by
education.
2
In Muslim time, the goals of education changed. It was more to teach the
three R and train in religious norms. The learning of schools was taught by
learning schools, while professional and vocational training took place within
the box structure. Sanskrit and Arabic or Persian were the teaching tools. The
teachers were paid by the rulers by granting the country, gifts from students,
tasks paid by rich citizens and payment in the form of food, clothing or other

articles. The financial position of the schools was not very strong. They didn't
have their own special buildings. In many cases, schools were carried out in
local temples, mosques or teacher houses. The schools were carried out almost
exclusively by Maulvis (priests) for Muslim students and Brahmins for Hindu
students.
The father, the brother, etc. offered the child professional training.
Therefore, the box system provided professional training and skills that were
transferred from generation to generation, as well as a remuneration of
employment. It was not on physical education, the development of thinking or
teaching some business. Chastity, equality and simplicity were not the ideals of
student life. The specialization of professional roles had not reached a phase in
which a separate class or caste could assume educational work as a special
function. Education was more practical. In the British period, education aimed to
produce mainly employees. Education was more focused on students than
teachers. Unlike today, education never directed the freedom of the individual,
the excellence of the individual, the equality between all people, the
independence of the individual and the groups and national cohesion.
Christian missionaries who dealt with the mediation of education have
considerably important for the conversion of religion. Education in schools and
universities was not productive, which could reduce social, regional and
linguistic obstacles. The objective of making the teachers of technology. Nor did
he focus on fighting injustice, intolerance and superstition. Current education is
based on the promotion of the values of a society of urban and competitive
consumption. Due to the existing education system, India has produced the
number of scientists, specialists and technocrats in the last five decades that
have been recognized nationally and internationally.
