Translation of homonyms, synonyms and antonyms

Anicius Manilius Severinus ( Boethius) (480-524AD) was descended from rich and noble family. He got education in Athens and during his military service he was put to death. In prison he wrote his famous work “ Consolation in philosophy” which was popular in the Middle Ages. Antique education and new Christian consciousness were combined in him. Boethius intended to translate Aristotle and Platon works into Latin.

Flavius Magnus Aurelius (490-585AD) was descended from the noble family. He was a highly educated man, held a high position in the society. “ The history of Ghettos” is one of his favorite works. He organized the translation of Joseph Flavor’s “Judaic antiques” and “Against Apion” from Greek into Latin.

“Cura Pastorales” an immensely popular medieval text was written by Pope Gregory the Great (590-604). It was one of those selected for translation and dissemination among his people by Alfred the Great. Alfred ‘s purpose was transparent; the book gives advice on Christian responsibilities and lays a heavy stress on the importance of education.
