Annotation. Classical literature has enriched its themes, images, and genres over the
centuries. It is important to pass on the spiritual heritage of the past to the younger generation
and to instill in them a sense of national values. This is the purpose of providing classics in
secondary school literature textbooks. The article analyzes the activities and creative heritage
of the figures in the history of Uzbek literature in the textbook of literature. Shortcomings in
mastering the topics are mentioned. Based on the results obtained, some suggestions and
comments were made. The common denominator of modern and classical literature is how
to engage students in ancient literature. As a result, there are shortcomings in the textbook.
