These days, more and more young people are choosing to study in other countries

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Raising children has always been a matter of concern for parents. However, I totally disagree with the idea that all mothers and fathers should be forced to attend parenting courses. This essay explains my total disagreement.


First of all, many potential parents are focused on their education or profession, which makes it impossible to take part in any compulsory parenting lessons. As a result, if they refuse to attend the courses, they should be penalized or punished. If this happens, then people would definitely get annoyed and strart cheating. Therefore, even though coumpulsory parenthood preparation courses might help prospective parents learn various parenting skills, many people would oppose their introduction because of their busy schedules.


On top of being undesirabe, this type of courses might be unnecessary. Individuals have been bringing up their offspring without any parenting lessons since the beginning of human history. This means that taking care of children is just an integral part of human nature, and parents also learn it from their grandparents, friends, relatives, and neighbors. Thus, instead of allocating public budgets into compulsory parenting courses, the government should step in to deal with social problems like homelessness, as well as environmental hazards, such as pollution.


Furthermore, even if such courses are successfully delivered and future parents feel like attending them, family problems do not stem from a lack of parenting skills at present. Rather than teaching people how to be good parents, governments ought to reduce working hours and encourage parents, especially young ones, to spend more time with their children. If parent-child interaction is improved, we can get rid of several social issues such as delinquency and suicide. Parenthood preparation lessons do not play any noticeable role in attaining this, however.


In conclusion, I believe that forcing all mothers and fathers to take parenting courses is both unwelcome and pointless. While there are far more effective ways in which family problems can be addressed and children can be raised well, governing bodies should not waste their money on this type of impractical approaches.
