These days, many children have difficulty paying attention and concentrating in their 
classes at school. What are the reasons for this? How can it be dealt with?
Nowadays, it is common to see a lot of pupils not showing attentiveness while studying at 
school due to various distractions. This growing concern can be linked with the lifestyle and 
activities that young learners are indulged into in their routine lives, meanwhile some 
measures can prove to be helpful to solve this problem. 
There are many factors that are responsible for causing this. The first reason behind this is, 
indulgence of youngsters in the new world of entertainment as they spend most of the 
time at home on smart phones, video games and social media which affect their life 
negatively by virtue of which their mind finds it difficult to surmount these as a result their 
concentration suffers. Secondly, financial instability among families is becoming a concern 
these days with rise in conflicts and disputes. Also, unlike the past, the number of broken 
and single-parent families is increasing so children who face such situations at their home 
cannot focus on studies as they are mentally not happy and healthy. Finally, in this 
contemporary era, teachers are constrained by the business minded authorities of schools 
and institutes and they lack the freedom to discipline children which was not the case in 
the past when teachers could use any method to control pupils and maintain strictness but 
these days with lack of power in the hands of tutors is leading to disturbance in class 
decorum. 
However, there are several ways to tackle these problems effectively. First and foremost 
solution is classroom teaching should be made more interesting. For instance, 
technological innovations should be introduced by which children will become more 
excited about their lessons by seeing animated images and visual effects with power point 
representations or use of projectors. Moreover, tutors should focus less on theoretical 
studies and lay more emphasis on practical studies and by doing so learning can be more 
engaging and pupils would learn faster and with more interest if they actually experience 
the things which they are studying. Last but not least, some methods should be 
implemented by the school authorities by which the minds of students can be relaxed so 
that they can concentrate more on studies like they should organize some meditation 
classes in the premises etcetera. 
In conclusion, no doubt there are many factors responsible for children’s inattention in 
school rooms but these can be lessened with the help of change in pedagogy by 
institutional authorities .
