People find it very difficult to speak in public or to give a presentation before an 
audience. Do you think public speaking skill is really important? Should students be 
taught public speaking at school? 
It is true that due to glossophobia, individuals feel uncomfortable while delivering their 
ideas in front of huge gathering. I strongly believe that oratorical skills become most 
valuable quality in this highly competitive world and definitely it should be a part of school 
curriculum.
Following reasons justify the importance of elocution skills for the masses. First and 
foremost reason is that in this era of stiff competition it has become the need of the hour 
in modern work culture to be able to give presentations on many occasions and it is also 
interrelated with communication skills that do help in shaping the future of an individual. 
For instance, oratory skills are most desired in marketing jobs which are generally target 
based and such kind of skill acts as tool to influence public provided you deliver a spell 
winding speech. Moreover, it certainly help to conquer the fear and build the confidence 
any individual which do helps in interviews to impress the interviewer.
I assert that pupils should be trained at their earlier stage of life. Firstly schools are the best 
platform to instill speaking skills as there is availability of experienced staff and 
environment over there with the arrangement of competitions related to oration. 
Secondly, children have better intellectual skills as compared to the adults by virtue of this 
they can grasp each and everything without any kind of hesitation which make them good 
orators for the future. Finally, if they are taught these kind of skills during primary 
education they will have a sufficient time to make them well prepared for future 
endeavors. 
In conclusion , no doubt in this era of neck to neck competition, a person having good 
elocution skills can survive which is only possible if he / she starts doing practice in earlier 
stage of life .
