TEXT 7. Causes of Soil Pollution.

All soils, whether polluted or unpolluted, contain a large number of naturally occurring compounds (pollutants). Such impurities include metals, inorganic ions and salts (e.g. phosphates, carbonates, sulfates, nitrates) and many organic compounds (such as lipids, proteins, DNA, fatty acids, hydrocarbons, PAHs, alcohols, etc.). These compounds are mainly formed by the microbial activity of the soil and the breakdown of organisms (e.g. plants and animals). In addition, various compounds from the atmosphere get into the soil, for example with rainwater, but also through wind activity or other types of soil disturbance, as well as from surface water and shallow groundwater flowing through the soil. When the amount of soil contamination exceeds natural levels (which is naturally present in different soils), pollution is created. There are two main causes of soil pollution: anthropogenic (man-made) causes and natural causes.

TEXT 8. Types of soil pollution.

Soil pollution is made up of pollutants and pollutants. The main pollutants of the soil are the biological materials and some of the human activities. Soil pollutants are all products of soil pollutants that contaminate the soil. Human activities that pollute the soil range from agricultural practices that infest the plants with pesticide chemicals, to urban or industrial waste or radioactive emissions that contaminate the soil with various toxic substances

Examples of soil contamination

There are a variety of pollutants that can poison the soil. Below are examples of the most common and problematic soil pollutants.

Text 9.The effects of soil pollution.

Soil pollution affects plants, animals and humans alike. While everyone is susceptible to soil pollution, the effects of soil pollution can vary based on age, general health, and other factors such as the type of pollutant or pollutant inhaled or ingested. However, children are usually more susceptible to pollution because they come into close contact with the floor when they play in the floor; combined with lower disease thresholds, this triggers higher risks than in adults. Hence, it is always important to test the soil before allowing your children to play there, especially if you live in a highly industrialized area.
