3.3 Organization
Mintzberg (1987, 1989) defines an organization as “
collective action in the pursuit of a
common mission
”. When describing an organization, different aspects could be taken into
consideration. For instance: finance, power, strategy, structure, culture and marketing (Mobach,
2009). Time and place independence of work affects both organizational structure and culture (Bijl,
2007). Therefore, the effect of changing ICT on both structure and culture (see figure 3.1) are
described in the literature study in the following paragraphs.
