to Determine tHe Possible relationsHiP oF PolymorPHiC variants oF 
TNF-ɑ AND TGF-SS GENES wITH THE RISK OF DEVELOPING VITILIGO

We are presenting our research on the genetic 
aspects in the epidemiology of vitiligo. It is generally 
accepted a polygenic theory of occurrence, in 
addition to immune dysregulation and alteration of 
melanogenesis. as a result of our genetic studies, 
it was possible to identify the range of candidate 
genes involved in the violation of pigment formation. 
Currently, the range of genomic studies in vitiligo is 
expanding, necessitating the development of more 
screening methods.
Purpose of the study:
To determine the possible 
relationship of polymorphic variants of TnF-ɑ and 
TGF-ß genes with the risk of developing vitiligo.
To assess the relationship of mutant variants of 
the studied genes and their possible combinations 
with the risk of developing progressive forms of 
vitiligo and the clinical course of the disease.
material and methods:
an objective clinical 
examination of 104 vitiligo patients aged from 6 to 59 
years was carried out.
results and discussion:
Out of 104 patients 
with vitiligo, women accounted for 62 patients (60 %), 
and men – 42 (40 %). according to the clinical form 
of vitiligo, 42 (40 %) patients had a limited form of 
the disease (1–2 spots with a size of 1–3 cm), 11 
(10 %) patients had acrofacial, 52 (50 %) patients 
were diagnosed with a common form of the disease. 
The study of the age category of patients with vitiligo 
showed that, there were 40 patients of 6–14 years 
old, 22 patients of 14–25 years old, 30 patients of 
26–40 years old, 5 patients of 41–55 years old and 
7 patients of over 55 years old with vitiligo. as you 
can see, vitiligo was most often found among young 
people of working age.
