X2 grammar focused lessons a week- rationale and unit construction:
Mastery Writing 2 has been designed for students on the Traditional Pathway. It is a grammar and writing unit which isolates grammatical skills and teaches them through a sequence of precisely chosen examples and non-examples. Students then complete dozens of interleaved tasks over the course of the unit until the skills become automatic in their writing. At the end of every lesson, students then apply what they have practised in a piece of writing. The goal of Mastery Writing 2 is to support students to write not until they find it easy to get a skill right, but until they find it difficult to get that skill wrong.
