Brilliant Skeptic
Representatives of this adaptation in interpersonal communication are similar to Workaholics: they prefer loneliness or communication with 1-2 partners. However, Skeptics show themselves neutral in solving problems and establishing social contacts, namely, they express the same readiness to both be active and remain in anticipation of actions from others. This is what determines the position of this adaptation in the Evaluation Matrix: in the right half of the plane on the border of activity and passivity.
They show themselves as brilliant thinkers, paying attention to every detail. Therefore, activities in which thoughtfulness and thoughtfulness of actions are important, for example, accounting, management, jurisprudence, are well suited for them. They are preoccupied with careful organization and control, which makes them excellent organizers.
They encounter difficulties when they incorrectly assess the circumstances, at the same time being in full confidence that their assessment is the only correct one. And then they build their actions based on this erroneous judgment.
In the counseling process, it is important to teach them trust and make them feel that in real life, "loose control" is not the same as "leaving no control." It is also necessary to show the importance of checking one's own assessments and perceptions, as opposed to their unconditional truth.
Playful Rebel
People with this adaptation love to be involved in relationships, to be part of a group. However, in resolving difficulties, they prefer passivity. The same applies to the method of establishing interpersonal contacts. So, for example, in social interaction, Rebels tend to display passive aggression. They may say, "It's hot in here!", expecting someone else to start fixing the problem. They are cheerful and playful, but strongly, though indirectly, resist being controlled by others. In the Evaluation Matrix, this adaptation is located in the lower left part - “passive-involved”.
Rebels can succeed in detective work, in investigative journalism, in the field of criticism. If something is going wrong, they will be the first to point it out.
Their difficulties are often associated with the expenditure of energy on a senseless struggle. They fight control from others even in circumstances where no one is trying to control them. In addition, they often see the solution of the situation only from the position of "either / or", missing from consideration the many possibilities on the continuum of solutions.6
Important issues in counseling and therapy are recognizing that struggle is not the only way of life, and that there are many points of view in problem solving other than either/or. They need to learn how to openly ask for what they need, as well as gain experience in helping others achieve their goals. It is valuable for rebels to allow themselves to be different, even when it may be difficult for others around them.
