pragmatic competence
-knowledge of how language is related to the situation in which it 
is used. Pragmatic competence places language in the institutional setting of its use, relating intentions and 
purposes to the linguistic means at hand” [9].
The competence helps to teach and adopt mostly speaking competence. And these competences are one 
of the significant peculiarities in communication. They are prime helpers for foreign ICC learners. 
As pragmatic compoetence is the ability to use language appropriately in a social context (Taguchi, 
2009). It is key to effective communication in a second or foreign language. But developing pragmatic 
competence is often overlooked. However it is actually the skill which native speaker subconsciously use to 
define non-native speaker as successful communicator. In order to teach this aspect we should compere two 
languages: 
language transfer 
and
 pragmatic transfer 
and to note the distinction between them:

We know that there are no articles in Russian. But it should be, as we know
•
I have a red pen
Nonverbal communication
components as body language gestures, eye contact and proxemics are the 
most fundamental component what are necessary for development of ICC. It is influential to include cultural

activities right from the beginning of foreign language education, in our case the English language in all age 
groups. The aim of learning all this aspects is to enrich learners’ awareness, attitudes, not only the target culture, 
but also their own culture and other cultures in order to learn and to have ICC.
During the learning nonverbal communication we should remember that Judee Burgoon (1994) has 
identified seven different nonverbal dimensions: 
1.
Kinesics or body movements including facial expressions and eye contact; 
2.
Vocalic or paralanguage that includes volume, rate, pitch, and timbre; 
3.
Personal appearance; 
4.
Our physical environment and the artifacts or objects that compose it; 
5.
Proxemics or personal space; 
6.
Haptics or touch. 
7.
Chronemics or time. To this list, we would add signs or emblems. 
"Signs or emblems include all of those gestures that supplant words, numbers, and punctuation marks. 
They may vary from the monosyllabic gesture of a hitchhiker's prominent thumb to such complex systems as the 
American Sign Language for the deaf where nonverbal signals have a direct verbal translation. However, it 
should be emphasized that signs and emblems are culture-specific. The thumb and forefinger gesture used to 
represent 'A-Okay' in the United States assumes a derogatory and offensive interpretation in some Latin 
American countries."[10] 
In conclusion we can say that the ambition of this article was to discuss various factors for teaching 
culture and to inspire teacher of foreign languages to teach culture of target language in order to develop the 
intercultural communicative competence of nonnative learners. We looked through the essentialness of learning 
culture of the language and it should be part of learning foreign language. Only in this case we can achieve ICC.
