Introduction 
Khorezm is a region which is rich in historical and cultural heritage. Hundreds 
of castles lying in the area have always attracted the attention of researchers. The 
mud-brick walls, which stand with dignity among the sand dunes, show that our 
ancestors of the past possessed a high level of craftsmanship and architectural 
knowledge. An analysis of the artifacts found in the castles and the tales, legends, 
myths and stories about them opens up a vast history or creates unique museums. 
They are not only historical and architectural monuments, but also a good 
opportunity to develop domestic and foreign tourism in our country. Of course, it 
should be noted that the tourism industry plays an important role in the development 
of the economies of countries and regions, and it is one of the priorities of the world 
economy in the XXI century. 
It should be noted that great attention is being paid to the development of this 
sphere in our country. After all, the potential of domestic and foreign tourism in our 
country is enormous. In particular, small tourist facilities, shrines, health resorts 
selected by the locals, modern facilities under construction, catering facilities are 
among them. 
In this article, we think about a very ancient historical monument - Qalajiq 
Fortress, located in the Khorezm region, which can make an important contribution 
to the development of domestic tourism. We will share sound suggestions for its 
history, tourism opportunities, problems and solutions.
