Literature review 
As a historical monument, the Qalajiq castle has always been in the focus of 
archaeologists, ethnographers, historians. This monument is mentioned in many 
local sources. It was studied as an archeological monument in the middle of the last 
century by S. P. Tolstov,

and in 1952-1956 by an academician Y.G. Gulomov

. In 
1991, the staff of the St. Petersburg Department of Archeology of the Russian 
Academy of Sciences also studied under the guidance of V. Zavyalov.

In 1993-
1996 M. Mambetullaev

and N. Yusupov studied it. Archaeologist G.Khojaniyazov

was not indifferent to the fortress. Historian K. Masharipov

dedicated his special 
treatise to the history of this fortress. 
In the following years, this castle began to attract the attention of experts not 
only because of its history, but also because of the availability of tourist 
opportunities. Especially after the government's decision "On measures to develop 
tourism in Khorezm in 2015-2017", tourism specialists began large-scale projects 
on Qalajik and began to conduct new research, began to publish new articles. 
T.Davletov published an article "Development trends of Khorezm tourism" in the 
3rd issue of the magazine "Ekonomicheskiy Vestnik" in 2017, in which he spoke 
about the fortress. In the 8th issue of the Khorezm Mamun Academy in 2020, M.B. 
Setmamatov's new project article "Repair and beautification of Qalajik fortress, 
which echoes the history of Khorezm" has been published. 
The Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PD 5611 dated 
January 5, 2019 "On additional measures for the accelerated development of tourism 
in the Republic of Uzbekistan" was a great impetus for the accelerated development 
of domestic tourism and the implementation of projects.
Although several publications have been written about Qalajik and discussed 
on the internet, we will also try to discuss this cultural heritage, its preservation as a 
cultural heritage monument, and its new tourist opportunities, and first focus on its 
history.
