Writing

In Grade 1 Writing is not taught. Grades 2 - 4. Developing skills and abilities in: graphics; calligraphy; alphabet, combination of letters and sound-letter matches; copying out letters, combination of letters, words and word combinations, texts; copying out from texts words, word combinations and sentences; writing words and short sentences from typed texts and dictated by a teacher; writing based on sample postcards, short personal letters, filling in simple forms in the framework of communicative settings based on the content of each grade at beginner level of learning.

Language areas: knowledge, abilities and skills

Phonetics

Development of abilities and skills: adequate pronunciation and differentiating sounds of the target language (long and short vowels, vowels with glottal stop, voiced/unvoiced consonants at the end of a syllable or words, absence of softening consonants before vowels); word and phrase stress; dividing sentences to meaningful chunks; use of rhythm and intonation appropriate to the basic communicative types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative) in the communicative settings based on the topic based content of each grade at the beginner level of learning.

Lexis

Teaching: lexical units, serving the needs of communication setting within the topics of primary school, basic set expressions, evaluation lexis and cliché as elements of speech etiquette, reflecting the culture of the target country (use and recognition in speech). Introducing primary notions about ways of word formation ((compounds and affixation), about borrowings from other languages (international words).

Grammar

Teaching: basic grammatical and syntactical constructions, main types of a simple sentence (affirmative, interrogatory, imperative), parts of speech related to various communicative settings based on the content areas defined for each grade of primary education.
