Seasons and the weather
The year consists of four seasons. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. In the world a year consists of twelve months. They are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. Every month consists of thirty or thirty one days, besides February, which consists of twenty eight or twenty nine days. Every four years we have a leap year. In a leap year we celebrate Olympic Games. Every week has seven days. They are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Sunday we have a day off or sometimes we call it rest day, some people call it a weekday. Every hour consists of sixty minutes; every minute consists of sixty seconds.
Spring
Spring is a pleasant season in the year. In spring the nature awakes. At the beginning of the spring it is cold, at the end it is warm. It sometimes rains, but the rain is warm. The weather is fine. The sun shines brightly. The leaves on the trees are pale green. A delicious odour fills the air. Everything looks fresh and new.
Summer
After spring summer comes. In summer the weather is hot or warm. In some parts of the CIS the summer is very hot. The days are long in summer and the nights are short. In July the sun rises very early. Many people have holidays in summer. It is not pleasant to stay in the city in summer and most people leave the city.
Autumn
Then autumn comes. Autumn is a rainy season. When autumn begins it is still warm, when it ends it is cold. In autumn, the sky is often cloudy, and the sun doesn’t shine so brightly. It often hides behind the clouds, and then comes out again. The leaves on the trees become yellow, red and brown. In autumn, schools and institutes open again and we return to our customary life. Our study or other business occupies our mind, so we hardly have time to notice the change in nature. On Sunday, we sometimes take a drive to the country. How different everything looks to us.
Winter
Winter is very beautiful season of the year. It snows much in winter. How splendid is the purity of winter’s snow. The sun shines seldom. The sun sets early and rises late. The moon and stars shine brightly at night. The weather in winter depends on the climate of a country. The air is frosty. Russian winter is famous for its sunny frosty days. Uzbek winter is famous for its warm and sunny days. Winter in England is not very cold as well. Very often snow melts when it falls. In England it does not snow much. It often rains in winter. The days are very foggy in England. There is little mist in Uzbekistan. In cold weather people don’t like to leave their comfortable places.
Tashkent city
Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan. It is a beautiful city. As to beforehand Tashkent was divided into two parts: the New city and the Old one. One part of the city had European buildings, wide streets and squares. The other part was called the Old city, which consisted of small houses, packed together in narrow streets. Now in some parts of the city it is difficult to see this division. There are also many beautiful high buildings and wide streets in the Old part of the city. Tashkent now became an industrial city. There are many plants and factories in it. The city is the cultural center in Central Asia. There are Universities, many Institutes, Technical and secondary schools in Tashkent. There are also a lot of libraries, cinemas and theatres in it. We like our capital very much.
But on the twenty sixth of April 1966 the earthquake occurred in Tashkent and a large number of houses in the center of the city were destroyed. Several hospitals, schools and other public buildings were also destroyed. Day by day and year by year our Tashkent becomes more beautiful and bigger.
