  1. A RESOLUTION OF THE CONNELLSVILLE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF SCHOOL DIRECTORS TO URGE THE GOVENOR OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA AND THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO APPROVE A BUDGET FOR 2015-2016

WHEREAS, Connellsville Area School District is a municipal corporation and public entity formed by and for the communities of Connellsville City, Connellsville Township, Dunbar Borough, Dunbar Township, Bullskin Township, Saltlick Township, Springfield Township, South Connellsville Borough, Dawson Borough, Vanderbilt Borough operating under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Public School Code of 1949 as amended from time to time; and


NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that WE, the Board of School Directors of Connellsville Area School District urge the General Assembly and the Governor to work together to compromise in order to approve a budget for the 2015-2016 school year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be submitted to the elected senators and representatives of the Connellsville Area School District, and to the members of the General Assembly, and to the Governor of The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
FOOD SERVICE (Fox, Means, Mongell and Basinger)

STUDENT SERVICES (Fox, Means, Martucci and O’Donnell)




  1. Request approval for Tim Martin, Dane Shultz, Cortny Kennick and Jerry Connell, Senior High staff, and approximately 60 marching band students to take a field trip to Orlando, Florida, Sunday thru Thursday, March 20 thru March 24, 2016, at an approximate cost of $400.00 for one substitute for four days and 10% of total cost, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Request approval for Joseph Cordier, JROTC Instructor, to attend Army classes at School of Cadet Command, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, November 15 thru November 20, 2015, at an approximate cost of class coverage for four days, in accordance with the district travel policy.

  1. Merideth Thornton and Melissa Ranker, Senior High School Spanish teachers, and approximately 100 students will be taking a field trip to Benedum Center, Pittsburgh, PA, Friday, April 8, 2016, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

Lauren Relovsky, Stephanie Romanishan, Jennifer Furajter, Senior High School teachers, and approximately 75 students will be taking a field trip to Genetic Update Conference, Gateway High School, Monroeville, PA, Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Susan McLuckey, Anita Fosbrink, Tammy Nicholson, Dunbar Township Elementary School teachers, and approximately 85 students will be taking a field trip to Triple B Pumpkin Farm, Monongahela, PA, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Crystal Firestone, C.N. Pritts Elementary School teacher, and Melissa Knopsnider, Lisa Schultz, Stephanie Emert, Nicole Albert, chaperones, and approximately 26 students will be taking a field trip to Resh’s Park, Friday, October 2, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

  1. Kelly Cunningham, Junior High Life Skills teacher, and Life Skills class will be participating in the “Wright in Our Backyard” program at Ohiopyle, Monday. November 2, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

Colonel Ulysses Winn and Chief Joseph Cordier, JROTC Instructors, and approximately 30 cadets will be participating in a drill competition, Northern Garrett High School, Accident, Maryland, Saturday, November 14, 2015, at an approximate cost of $250.00 for registration and transportation, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Rita Cooper and James Grimm, West Crawford Elementary School teachers, and approximately 50 students will be taking a field trip to the Fayette County Water Festival, Fayette County Fairgrounds, Thursday, May 26, 2016, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Michelle Harbaugh, Senior High School music teacher, and approximately 140 students will be taking a field trip to see a performance of “Grease”, Byham Theatre, Pittsburgh, PA, Thursday, April 21, 2016, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Tiffany Griffith, Elementary Gifted teacher, and gifted students will be taking a field trip to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh, PA, Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.



  1. Ronald Barry, CTC Instructor, and approximately 35 students will be taking a field trip Fire Training Center, California University of PA, Friday, October 16, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Eric DiCianna, CTC Guidance Counselor, will be taking a tour of Pittsburgh Career Institute, Pittsburgh, PA, Friday, October 2, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district travel policy.




  1. Tim Martin, Senior High School band director, and marching band will be participating in the Veterans Day Parade, Masontown, PA, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at an approximate cost of $150.00 for transportation, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Carol Kelley, Springfield Township Elementary School teacher, and Erin Kemp and Ashley Fulton, chaperones, and approximately 30 students will be taking a field trip to the Fayette County Water Festival, Fayette County Fairgrounds, Thursday, May 26, 2016, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

Lori Rosensteel, Jane Mickey, Cheryl Pritts, Springfield Township Elementary School staff, Shannon Bryner, Melissa Smith, Tonya Moore, Diane King, Kathy King, Jenni Steyer, Carol Kelley, Kim Schomer, chaperones, and approximately 50 students will be taking a field trip to Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh, PA, Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

Michele Harbaugh, Senior High School teacher, and approximately 2 students will be participating in the PMEA Honor Choir, Greensburg, PA, Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, 2015, at an approximate cost of $350.00 for one substitute, registration and transportation, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Delicia Maiese and Julie Hartz, South Side Elementary School teachers, and 6th grade classes, will be taking a field trip to the Fayette County Water Festival, Fayette County Fairgrounds, Thursday, May 26, 2016, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Ron Barry would like to organize a S.A.D.D. chapter (Students Against Destructive Decisions) on a voluntary basis at the Connellsville Career and Technical Center.




  1. Jessica Show and Janine Ulery, Clifford N. Pritts Elementary School teacher, chaperones, Kelly Gearhart, Tom Bell, Tawnya Pirl, and approximately 33 students will be taking a field trip to Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, Friday, November 20, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.




  1. Rita Cooper, James Grimm, Teresa Brown, West Crawford Elementary School staff, and approximately 50 students will be taking a field trip to Senior Center, Connellsville, PA, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at no cost to the district, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

Stephanie Romanishan, Jennifer Furajter, Lauren Relovsky, Senior High School biology teachers, will be attending the PA Science Curriculum Council meeting/conference, Friday, November 20, 2015, at an approximate cost of $300.00 for three substitutes for one day, in accordance with the district travel policy.

  2. Colonel Ulysses Winn and Chief Joseph Cordier, JROTC Instructors, and approximately 30 cadets will be participating in a drill competition, Southern Garrett High School, Oakland, Maryland, Saturday, October 31, 2015, at an approximate cost of $250.00 for registration and transportation, in accordance with the district student travel policy.

  1. Connellsville Girls Softball League will be using the Dunbar Township Stadium for softball practices, April 1, 2016 thru July 1, 2016, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  2. New Horizons will be using the Springfield Township Elementary School for meetings, Mondays, October 5, November 2, December 7, February 1, 2016, March 7, 2016 and April 4, 2016, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  3. East End Steelers will be using the Senior High School cafeteria for a banquet on Friday, November 20, 2015, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  4. Connellsville Retired Police Officers will be using the Junior High School and Connellsville Area Career and Technical Center, Tuesdays, September 15 thru April 27, 2015, 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Group Charges

  5. German Club will be using the Senior High School parking lot for car show, Sunday, October 18, 2015 or rain date of October 25, 2015, 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Group Charges: custodial

  6. Connellsville Area School District Elementary Band will be using the Junior High auditorium, stage and restrooms for spring concert rehearsals, Fridays, April 8, 15, 22, 29, 2016, 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and recital, Friday, April 29, 2016, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  7. Senior Class used the Senior High School cafeteria for homecoming dance, Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  8. Senior High School gifted program used the Senior High School cafeteria for College and Career Fair, Monday, October 26, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  9. Army JROTC used the Senior High School Room 121 for All Academy Seminar –West Point, Wednesday, September 30, 2015, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  10. Connellsville Youth Basketball will be using the Dunbar Township Elementary School for practices, Fridays, November 13 thru March 18, 2016, 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  11. Junior High Musial Theatre Department will be using the Junior High School for musical Friday and Saturday, April 1 and April 2, 2016, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 3, 2016, 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.

  12. Junior High Instrumental Music Program will be using the Junior High auditorium for annual band concerts, Tuesdays, December 8, 2015 and May 10, 2016, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  13. All Star Chorus will be using Senior High School Room 121 for rehearsals on Monday, February 29, 2016, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  14. All Star Chorus used the Senior High School chorus room for auditions, Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29, 2015, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  15. High School Chorus will be using the Senior High School auditorium, lobby, restroom, and chorus room for concerts, Fridays, December 4, 2015 and April 29, 2016, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.




  1. Connellsville Youth Basketball League will be using the West Crawford Elementary School Mondays and Wednesdays full court and Tuesdays and Thursdays half court, October 19 thru March 18, 2016, 5:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

  2. Bullskin Brahman Booster Football will be using the Senior High School cafeteria for a banquet, Friday, November 6, 2015, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  3. Senior High School Musical will be using the Senior High School auditorium for auditions, December 7 and 8, 10, 11 and rehearsals January 4, 2015 thru March 2, 2016 and preview, February 15, 2015 and performances March 2 thru March 6, 2016.

  4. Dunbar Township Elementary School PTO will be using the Junior High School cafeteria for calendar party, Friday, November 6, 2015, 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  5. High School Girls Soccer Team will be using the Connellsville Area Career and Technical Center for a banquet, Thursday, October 29, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  6. High School band will be using the Senior High School auditorium for a concert, Thursday, December 17, 2015, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  7. All Star Band will be using the Senior High School auditorium for a concert, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  8. Bullskin Student Council will be using the Bullskin Township Elementary School gym and cafeteria for talent show, Thursday, October 29, Thursday, November 19, and Friday, November 20, 2015, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  9. Girls Tennis Team will be using the Senior High School cafeteria for a banquet, Tuesday, October 27, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  10. Connellsville Youth Basketball League will be using the Springfield Township Elementary School for practices, October 19 thru March 17, 2016.
