Plastic product industry
In February 2008, there were 15,172 enterprises in plastic product industry, with 206,800 employees, a year-on-year growth of 6.5%. The total assets value reached 558.4 billion yuan, up by 16.24% on a year-on-year basis. The total indebtedness was 315.4 billion yuan, up by 15.34% on a year-on-year basis. In November 2008, there were 16,236 enterprises in plastic product industry with 222,800 employees, up by 1.96% on a year-on-year basis. The total assets value reached 651.8 billion yuan, up by 12.54% on a year-on-year basis. The total indebtedness was 365.3 billion yuan, up by 10.36% on a year-on-year basis. In this year, plastic product industry encountered a stable decline of total assets value growth and indebtedness growth. The number of employees also dropped step by step. The indebtedness gaps among the sectors increased obviously. In November 2008, the number of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing enterprises peaked at 2,682, accounting for 16.52% in the whole industry. Daily plastic manufacturing enterprises were 2,381, accounting for 14.66%. The numbers of plastic artificial leather and synthetic leather manufacturing and foam plastic manufacturing enterprises were relatively small. Daily plastic manufacturing, other plastic product manufacturing and plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing enterprises hired a large number of employees. In November, there were 36,200 employees in daily plastic manufacturing enterprises, down by 3.59% on a year-on-year basis. Other plastic product manufacturing enterprises had 34,100 employees, down by 0.77% on a year-on-year basis. Plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing enterprises had 33,600 employees, up by 3.65% on a year-on-year basis. They also had the largest proportion of assets, reaching 157.4 billion yuan, up by 16.96% on a year-on-year basis. The assets of other plastic product manufacturing reached 78.5 billion yuan, up by 10.97% on a year-on-year basis. The assets of plastic part manufacturing reached 77 billion yuan, up by 12.22% on a year-on-year basis. Plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing enterprises had the largest debt proportion, reaching 91.6 billion yuan in November, up by 15.54% on a year-on-year basis. The debt of plastic film manufacturing stood at 54.6 billion yuan, up by 4.65% on a year-on-year basis. The debt of plastic part manufacturing stood at 43.9 billion yuan, up by 10.41% on a year-on-year basis. The debt of plastic thread, rope and knitting manufacturing and plastic packing-cases and vessels manufacturing grew slowly while the debt of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing and other plastic product manufacturing grew at a high speed. In February 2008, the total output value of plastic product industry reached 118.87 billion yuan, up by 23.71% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative output value was 872.401 billion yuan, up by 21.67% on a year-on-year basis. In February, the sales value of plastic product industry was 113.487 billion yuan, up by 23.6% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative sales value was 830.674 billion yuan, up by 19.48% on a year-on-year basis. The sales-output ratio of this industry in February was 95.47% and dropped slightly to 95.02% in November. The value of manufactured goods in February was 41.481 billion yuan, up by 20.25% on a year-on-year basis, and increased to 51.762 billion yuan in November, up by 10.44% on a year-on-year basis. In November 2008, the total industrial output value of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing stood at 195.445 billion yuan, accounting for 22.36% and up by 34.25% on a year-on-year basis. The total industrial output value of plastic film manufacturing reached 124.105 billion yuan, accounting for 14.2%, up by 14.04% on a year-on-year basis. The total industrial output value of plastic product manufacturing reached 108.464 billion yuan, accounting for 12.41%, up by 23.59% on a year-on-year basis. The total industrial output value of foam plastic manufacturing, plastic artificial leather and synthetic leather manufacturing and plastic part manufacturing were relatively small. The sales-output value of plastic thread, rope and knitting manufacturing was 97.44%. The sales-output value of plastic board, pipe and sectional part manufacturing and plastic film manufacturing was 93.94% and 95.01% respectively. Plastic board, pipe and sectional part manufacturing enterprises generated a large amount of manufactured goods (15.136 billion yuan in November, up by 11.93% on a year-on-year basis). The value of manufactured goods of other plastic product manufacturing and plastic film manufacturing was 6.245 billion yuan and 6.585 billion yuan, up by 5.15% and 12.02% respectively. In November, the cumulative sales costs stood at 728.321 billion yuan, up by 19.3% on a year-on-year basis. The sales expense in February approached 2.694 billion yuan, up by 23.16% on a year-on-year basis. The cumulative sales expense in November was 21.805 billion yuan, up by 19.36% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the management expenses and financial costs of plastic product industry were 4.551 billion yuan and 1.358 billion yuan respectively, up by 21% and 38.17%. In November, the cumulative management expenses and financial costs were 29.279 billion yuan and 8.454 billion yuan, up by 17.65% and 22.92% on a year-on-year basis. In November 2008, the sales costs of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing reached 158.703 billion yuan, up by 28.1% on a year-on-year basis. The sales costs of plastic film manufacturing reached 107.07 billion yuan, up by 14.24% on a year-on-year basis. The sales costs of other plastic product manufacturing were 88.591 billion yuan, up by 18.62% on a year-on-year basis. The sales costs of foam plastic manufacturing, plastic artificial leather and synthetic leather were relatively small. The sales expense of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing was 6.119 billion yuan, up by 26.44% on a year-on-year basis. The sales expense of plastic thread, rope and knitting manufacturing was 3.29 billion yuan, up by 31.86% on a year-on-year basis. The sales expense of plastic film manufacturing was 2.61 billion yuan, up by 15.33% on a year-on-year basis. The management expenses and financial costs of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing in November were 5.895 billion yuan and 2.516 billion yuan respectively, up by 19.34% and 30.54% on a year-on-year basis. The management expenses and financial costs of plastic part manufacturing were 4.366 billion yuan and 733 million yuan, up by 10.27% and 22.07% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the cumulative profits of plastic product industry reached 4.264 billion yuan, up by 30.93% on a year-on-year basis. The profit growth encountered a decline. In November, the cumulative profits were 34.257 billion yuan, up by 11.48% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, 3,370 enterprises or 22.21% of all companies suffered losses. In November, the cumulative number of enterprises in the red was 2,961 for 18.24% of all companies. Both the number of loss-suffering enterprises and scale were declining. In February, the total loss reached 1.327 billion yuan, up by 14.72% on a year-on-year basis. In November, the cumulative loss stood at 5.467 billion yuan, up by 43.07% on a year-on-year basis. The year-on-year growth of total loss was gradually speeding up. In November 2008, plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing generated a large proportion of profits of 9.003 billion yuan, up by 19.99% on a year-on-year basis. The profits of plastic film manufacturing were 4.224 billion yuan, up by 18.29% on a year-on-year basis. The profits of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing reached 4.069 billion yuan, up by 15.95% on a year-on-year basis. The profits of plastic artificial leather and synthetic leather, daily plastic leather and other plastic product manufacturing were relatively small. 567 enterprises of other plastic product manufacturing suffered loss, up by 23.69% on a year-on-year basis. 463 enterprises of plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing suffered loss, up by 17.26% on a year-on-year basis. The daily plastic manufacturing, plastic part manufacturing and plastic film manufacturing had seen a large loss-suffering scale. Both plastic board, pipe and sectional material manufacturing and other plastic product manufacturing saw a loss of 889 million yuan. Plastic thread, rope and knitting manufacturing suffered a loss of 870 million yuan, a sharp increase by 310.46% on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the product sales revenue of plastic product industry grew at 23.6%, down by 0.79 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In November, the product sales revenue grew at 19.48%, down by 7.41 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. The sales revenue of this industry was dropping down. In February 2008, the value-added ratio of capital maintenance was 117.42%, up by 4.48 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. In November, the ratio became 115.44%, up by 0.08 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the asset-liability ratio of plastic product industry was 56.49%, down by 0.35 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In November, the asset-liability ratio was 56.04%, down by 1.3 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In February 2008, the net amount growth rate of accounts receivable was 15.77%, up by 0.73 percentage point on a year-on-year basis. In November, the rate was 6.7%, down by 8.63 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. The net amount growth rate of accounts receivable saw a sharp decline. The cumulative investment in fixed assets of plastic product industry in 2008 approached 109.57 billion yuan, up by 25.47% on a year-on-year basis. In February, the cumulative investment in fixed assets was 5.56 billion yuan, up by 38.65% on a year-on-year basis, the highest speed throughout the year. In February, the cumulative investment in fixed assets reached 13.96 billion yuan, up by 17.51% on a year-on-year basis. This industry in 2008 kept a stable increase on the whole. In 2008, Guangdong boasted 214.473 billion yuan output value of plastic product industry, accounting for 24.53% of the industry's total output, the highest in the country, up by 20.17% on a year-on-year basis. The total output value of Zhejiang was 134.111 billion yuan, accounting for 15.34%, up by 12.49% on a year-on-year basis. The total output value of this industry was relatively large in Jiangsu, Shandong, and Shanghai. In this year, Ningxia ranked the first in China in sales-output ratio of 116.59%, followed by Hainan and Beijing. The ratio of Xinjiang was 75.06% as the lowest in China.
