From the first days of entering school, a student begins to be taught those initial reading and writing skills, without which further training and knowledge acquisition would be impossible. Reading and writing are closely related, but each of these skills has its own specifics.
The specific feature of writing is that it has two sides - graphic and spelling. The child must learn to write not only clearly and quite quickly, but also competently.
Graphic writing skills are a type of motor skills that have a lot in common with other motor skills. However, unlike other motor skills, graphic skills are unique in that they serve mental skills (reading, counting, spelling) and are formed simultaneously with them. Therefore, successful mastery of graphic writing skills depends on a solid mastery of reading and writing skills.
The presence of these features and difficulties in teaching children to write calligraphy make this issue particularly important. The urgency of teaching children to write calligraphy is primarily due to the fact that we live in an era of scientific and technological progress and a rapid flow of information, so modern people have to do a lot of education and self-education. As a result, there is a need not only for legible, but also fast, beautiful writing, the foundations of which are laid in elementary school.
Well-known teachers, psychologists, methodologists, such as L. S. Vygotsky, A. R. Luria, K. D. Ushinsky, I. G. Agarkova, V. A. Ilyukhina and many others worked on solving this problem. They understand the term "calligraphy" as the art of beautiful writing, i.e. the ability to write in a correct (clear) and stable handwriting.
