What is a non-fungible to-
ken and what do they do?
Non-fungible tokens are
similar to bitcoin and other
cryptocurrencies, with a key
difference: While every bitcoin
created can be exchanged for
one another, these can’t. As
the name suggests, non-fungi-
ble tokens are meant to be
unique. The tokens act as vir-
tual deeds, conveying owner-
ship of a digital asset. Each
one gets uploaded to a digital
ledger where it conveys key
information: the date it was
created, when it was sold, for
how much and to whom.
In some designs, these bits
of information are conveyed
through a cryptographic hash

GmbH, a software-as-a-service
provider of business process
analysis and decision-manage-
ment programs, to German
software maker SAP SE.
Through its digital strategy,
Apax invests $50 million to
$150 million in companies in
the software, data and analyt-
ics, technology-enabled ser-
vices, digital marketplaces, me-
dia and e-commerce sectors,
according to the firm’s website.
Apax’s latest fund is expected to
make 15 to 20 investments, the
pension system documents said.

formation to capture increased
online spending by consumers,
according to the pension docu-

Overall software spending
world-wide will rise in coming
years by about 8.5% annually,
reaching roughly $715 billion in
2024, according to a forecast
by research firm Gartner Inc.
The pandemic has shifted the
balance in many industries,
leading to greater digitization
“of internal processes, supply
chain, customer and partner in-
teractions and service delivery,”
Gartner said. The changes are
transforming information tech
from business support “to being
the business,” Gartner said.
