FOR THE QUESTION OF TEACHING GEORGIAN LANGUAGE
IN TURKEY
Georgian language is taught as specialty in Turkey (Kharsi city).This defines the specification and quality of teaching Georgian. There are a lot of text-books and phrase-books (By M. Nikoleishvili, N. Shavtvaladze, N. Sharashenidze, I. lebanidze and etc.) for the learners of Georgian language. But unfortunately there is no phonetic course in them which could facilitate to study specification of system of vowels and consonants. This makes additional difficulties for learners.
Consonant system is more rich in Georgian language. It is connected to voiced, aspirate and hard consonants, in Turkish language we have voiced and unvoiced consonants. Acoustically there is no difference among Georgian and Turkish voiced consonants for example , , . But in Turkish unvoiced consonants, p-matches with Georgian or . Turkish t-and Georgian , . Turkish k and Georgian , .
Sometimes Turk could not understand the speech sounds which are not in his native language and for him these are allophones. He does not know that in Georgian, they have phonemic meaning and mixture could torture the language (Words and sentences).
In introduction course of phonetics, which should be in every text-book, we must use contrastive method and underline the qualitative and quantitative differences of speech sounds.
In the end speech sounds are very important for communication. Right articulation is the base of perfect communication. It is known that influence of native language on the first stage is subconscious, that`s why student should know the specific of Georgian phonetic system. Exactly this makes easier to master Georgian language.
