1.1. Gives introductory information on the main issues that will be discussed during the lecture.

1.2. For the purpose of summarizing the data of the first lecture, the teacher gives a set of questions concerning the fundamentals of translation theory (definition of translation, relation of translation with linguistics, historical background, the aim and objectives, basic problems, main trends in translation studies, types of translation);

II-stage
Basic

2.1. For the purpose of clarifying the central problem of the lecture the teacher gives a series of questions:
What do you understand by the notion “equivalence”?
What do you understand by the notion “translation equivalence”?
What other terms concerned with the notion “equivalence” do you know?
The teacher makes comments on the students’ answers.

2.2. Presents the slide showing the definition of the notion “equivalence” (Slide 1); makes comments on the definition and summarizes the main points.

2.3. Presents a brief data on the various approaches to the problem of equivalence in translation studies;
