PIRATE RADIO STATION HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THE AIR
Late this afternoon officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department Community Redevelopment Area Policing Unit, and Investigators from the FCC, concluded their investigation of a pirate radio station operating within the city limits of Pinellas Park.
Investigators determined that Kervenson Joseph, 27 of Kenneth City was listed as the CEO of the pirate radio station using the call letters of WKMJ 102.1FM.
The radio station was broadcasting over the FM airways without licensing from the FCC; this is 3rd degree felony in the State of Florida.
During the investigation officers seized the radio transmitter and antenna used for the illegal broadcast. The business has been secured and the radio broadcast has been terminated.
Charge: Unauthorized transmissions to, or interference with, a public or commercial radio station licensed by the FCC. FSS 877.27 (felony 3rd degree)
