B. Study the cause for a pronunciation with an accent.

Dealing with the pronunciation of phoneme allophones is very important in practical teaching a foreign language. Because the pronunciation of the allophones of a phoneme may differ in more or less degree. Although the mispronunciation of allophones does not always impede the meaning of a word, it may be a cause for a pronunciation with an accent. For instance, a positional or combinatory allophones of /ı/ phoneme in Uzbek is mostly pronounced much longer than usual by a foreigner who has learnt Uzbek recently [4, 376]. As a result of this mispronunciation an accent appears in speech. And from the speech with an accent it is not difficult to notice that a speaker is speaking in a foreign language. In order to speak without an accent in a foreign language the pronunciation of the most common allophones of phonemes should also be learnt in learning process. The pronunciation of allophones of /ı:/ phoneme in English words bee /bı:/, bead /bı:d/ and beat /bı:t/ are not the same. The phoneme /ı:/ has the longest allophone in the word bee /bı:/ because of its coming in an open syllable whereas the same phoneme has the shortest allophone in the word beat /bı:t/ under the influence of the voiceless consonant /t/. The allophone of the phoneme /ı:/ in the word bead /bı:d/ is pronounced shorter under the influence of the voiced consonant /d/ [5, 49].
