Introduction
Newspapers were created to spread news about various aspects of life: politics, sports, arts, education, industry, etc. Being the main tool to attract readers to any news piece, headlines assume special importance. This special importance resulted in special structure and characteristics. Structure and style of news headlines differ not only from that of the titles of other genres but also from the rest of the news article itself
In the news release process, news headlines are an important part of expressing news content. In the process of translation of English news headlines, you need to master the main features of English news headlines in order to grasp the translation points of English news headlines. Thereby improving the translation level of English news headlines and promoting information exchange and transmission.
In general, the main function of news headlines is to summarize news content. We can use concise text to name the most valuable content in news reports and increase the speed at which people get information. When translating English news headlines, news translators must accurately grasp the main characteristics of English news headlines, and make full use of various translation skills, so as to improve the accuracy of English news headline translation.
Newspapers are considered sources of information and means of persuasion. One of the main functions of newspapers is informative. This function can be expressed briefly in the newspaper headline which indicates the nature of the article below it. A headline's purpose is to draw attention to the story quickly and briefly and to excite the readers’ interest. It is known that a newspaper headline is a specific linguistic phenomenon. It is a subject of numerous scientific works, it has its peculiarities in different languages, the process of translation of newspaper headlines presents some difficulties because of these peculiarities. So, the aim of our scientific work is to analyze the main features of modern newspaper headlines in English and present their translation into Uzbek.
