Resolution On Measures Aimed at Further Deepening of the Privatization 
Processes and Active Attraction of Foreign Investments During the Years 
2007–2010 (2007)
. This resolution offered minority shares in Uzbekenergo’s 
power generating assets (the Syrdarya, Novo-Angren, Navoi, Takhiatash, Angren, 
Tashkent, Fergana, and Mubarek thermal power plants), Uzbekneftegas, and 
UzbekUgol to private investors. 
The Law on Electric Power (2009). 
The law was intended to create a better-
integrated framework for regulating the electricity sector in Uzbekistan, improve 
energy efficiency in the sector, and attract private investment. The law includes 
provisions to allow on-site energy generation without licensing and to allow on-site 
generators to sell electricity back to the grid, and established basic requirements 
for independent operators of electricity distribution systems. The law made it 
possible for Uzbekenergo to suspend electricity supply to consumers for violating 
their supply agreements or damaging electricity meters.
Decree On Measure for Further Development of Alternative Energy Sources 
(2013)
. The decree promotes research and development of alternative sources 
of energy, mainly solar and biogas. Such energy sources are considered important 
contributors to sustainable development and competitiveness of the economy.
Resolution On Creating the International Institute for Solar Energy (2013)
. 
This resolution created the International Institute for Solar Energy. It defines 
the tasks of the institute as developing solar energy for industrial consumers, 
promoting the use of solar energy in other sectors, and assisting the development 
of large solar projects.
Law On the Rational Use of Energy (2015). 
This law directs the implementation 
of national, regional, and sectoral programs and projects to promote efficient use 
of energy, management of production and consumption of energy, introduction of 
renewable energy sources to replace hydrocarbons, promotion of energy efficient 
technology and appliances, and creation of an energy efficiency demonstration 
zone.
