Total final energy consumption in 2018 was 27.1 million tons of oil equivalent, 
mainly in the form of natural gas (65% of total), and the rest as electricity 
(16%), heat (10%), oil (7%), and coal (2%). Residential and industry groups 
have been the major consumers of energy; in 2018 they accounted for 40% and 
24%, respectively, of the total energy consumption (Figure 2.7). Residential 
consumers mainly use gas for cooking and heating. About 80% of households 
are connected to the central gas system. Industrial consumers primarily use 
electricity to support their operations. The biggest industrial consumers are 
the smelting and manufacturing companies.
