Activity 1 Listen and repeat. 5 min

Objectives: to warm up;to create an English speaking atmosphere.

Steps InteractionWhole class

Say: 'Stand up, please. Good morning, class.' Use gestures so the pupils stand up. Say: 'How are you?' Get the answers from the pupils.Say: 'Sit down, please.' Use gestures so the pupils sit down.Say: 'Listen to the song and repeat.' Play the DVD.

Sing the song along with pupils. Ask: 'What's the song about?' Accept anything reasonable, etc. DVD script:

Activity 2 Play "Brainstorm". 5 min

Objectives: to consolidate the comparative degree of adjectives: bigger, smaller, taller, shorter; to develop speaking skills.

Steps InteractionWhole class

Show the pictures of family members one by one and encourage the pupils to use the words: small-smaller, big-bigger, tall-taller, young-younger, strong- stronger.





Activity 3Look, read and complete. 15 min objective: to recycle the comparative degree of adjectives

Say: 'Open your books at Page 12.' Point to Activity 3. Use gestures and wait for all the children to open their textbooks. Check they have the correct page. Say: 'Look at Activity 3.' Be sure all of your pupils look at the textbook, point to Activity 3. Point to Brad's picture and say: 'This is Brad.' Point to his speech bubble and the text under the family tree and say: 'These are Brad's words.' Point to Brad's family tree and say: 'This is Brad's family tree.' Say: 'Let's find Brad in the family tree.' Help the pupils find Brad in the family tree. Point to his speech bubble and the text under the family tree and say: 'Now look, read and find Brad'8 brothers, father, uncle and cousins.' When they finish reading, say: 'Now open your Workbooks at Page 10.' Use gestures and wait for all the pupils to open the Workbooks. Say: 'Look, read and complete.' Use gestures to show what to do. Go round the class and see how well the pupils write. Help if necessary.
Activity 4a Work in groups of 4. Write puzzles. 10 min Objective: to improve writing skills

Steps InteractionIndividual work

Say: 'Let's work in groups.' Make groups of four. Say: 'Now look at Activity 4a in your Work book.' Be sure all of your pupils look at the work-book, point to Activity 4a. Say: 'Read the example.'When they finish reading, say: 'It's a puzzle. Now you can also write a puzzle for your group. Write about a pupil in your class. Don't write his/her name.' Use gestures to show what to do. Go round the class and see how well the pupils write. Help if necessary.
Activity 4b Play "Read and write". 5 min

Objectives:to improve reading skills

Interaction Individual work Ask pupils finish writing their puzzles, give your Workbook to your friend say- r group. S/he will guess and write the in У0 , round the class and see how well they do. Help if necessary.
Summing up 5 min

Steps: Interaction Whole class

As usual. Use the phrases 'Good job! Well done!' and 'keep trying!' for assessment. Assess pupils according to their work. Explain the homework.
