Who do young people turn for advice?

Traditionally, the young address the old for advice because older people have more life experience than young people. But there exist some exceptions. For instance, teenagers or pre-teens turn to peers for advice because most adults tend to seem as old-fashioned with outdated worldview.

   Which do you think is better, advice from young people or advice from older people?
   

I think it is better to get advice from the youth anyway. However wise the old’s advice may be, they usually base advice only on their own life or the lives of people of their network. Meanwhile, young people tend to be obsessed with the internet, therefore have more modern worldview and can come up with some advice considering contemporary issues and solutions.

   Why do so many young people not accept the advice from the elderly?
   

Because of most illiterate old people, definitely. It is not something surprising that old people have difficulties in dealing with modern trends, and constantly have disputes against the youth’s interests. For example, advising a child to read a book instead of recording Tik-Tok videos may sound as a piece of advice from the Stone Age. In other words, seeing the old as dinosaurs, young people prefer not to accept their advice.

   Some people find it easier to accept advice than others do. Why do you think there is this difference?
   

The difference is in personality. Some people are born stubborn and there’s nothing to do with it. People with such character never change their minds in front of others taking their advice even if they know that the outcome is going to be losing.

Some people consider that there is always room for improvement. So taking advice from others can make them better-off. However, others tend to have fixed beliefs and opinions and therefore are unwilling to accept advice. Such people scarcely ever bother themselves to follow it.

   How do people show politeness in your country?
   

We can determine politeness in Uzbek people by looking at the way they speak. Generally, polite people don’t have arrogance in their voices and behavior. Instead, they listen to partners with a warm smile on face.

   What’s the standard of being polite?
   

There are multiple signs of politeness. Being polite starts with a greeting or with a response to greeting. Polite people tend to nicely greet others with a genuine pleasant smile. Another sign can be words like “please” or “thank you” added to the end of sentences. Because, these add up to politeness and words don’t really seem to be rude.

   Are people as polite as they were in the past?
   

Unfortunately. People are not so polite as our grandparents. Currently, most parents have so much work that they cannot spare time to teach politeness and good manners to their kids. Besides, censorship is not as harsh as it was before. Therefore, TV and social media is full of impoliteness and curse words which is also making people much less polite. These were not the case before, so they had more politeness than today’s people.
